I've the same problem, i try your solution to use the unzipped factory firmware (.zip but i converter this in .bin) . tomato also accept files in .bin or .trx format. i would like to flash my R8000 in tomato by shibby to DDWRT, but i cannot do it. I alway do the 30/30/30 hard reset before and after the flash

It's a Netgear 3500L and I've had Tomato on it for a long time. I upgraded to the Archer c7 to get better wireless range. It did give me that but now I'm missing some of the things Tomato had that TP-Link's firmware does not. That's what brought me here.

My stock firmware would lock up every few weeks, so I’m hoping this won’t or at least I can set it to reboot once a week like my router (E2000 with DD-WRT). It does show my WAN port is in use and my four LAN ports are unplugged.
